Clare Snaddon

Clare joined the firm in April 2024 to work in the commercial department with Partner, Elaine McGrath. Clare completed her legal training in 2022 at Adams & Adams, in South Africa, after attaining an LLB from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2020. Clare was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa, in March 2023.

Clare has a particular expertise in intellectual property, including portfolio management and enforcement. Clare also assists with drafting commercial contracts as well as mergers & acquisitions. She has assisted in a broad range of intellectual property matters in Ireland, Europe and throughout Africa, including disputes relating to trade marks, copyright, passing-off, unlawful competition, domain name disputes as well as company and business name objections. Clare has been involved in several high-profile trade mark cases that have gone before the Supreme Court of Appeal of South Africa, for major international homeware brands and one of South Africa’s major FMCG brands.

Some of Clare’s recent work highlights include:
  • Advising clients on the terms of an agreement to transfer IP rights following an Irish inter-company share sale;
  • Advising a high-profile Irish sporting organization regarding IP litigation in the United States;
  • Assisting with the corporate restructuring and sale of a major Irish hotel chain;
  • Advising an Irish media production house on a European trade mark opposition.
